The board is a small 3x3 grid.
Players choose X or O, then take turns claiming one empty square. The grid starts empty, and every square can matter.
A diagonal win for X: three connected marks.

Place exactly one mark on an empty square.
Your turn is just one placement. You cannot move a mark after it is placed, so center, corners, and blocking squares are all important.

Win now, block next, and watch for forks.
A fork creates two winning threats at once. If your opponent has two marks in a line, block the third square before building your own attack.

If your next mark completes a row, column, or diagonal, play it.

Do not let the opponent complete three in a row.

Create a second threat.
Use center and corners to make multiple lines possible.

The game ends on a win or when every square is filled.
