How to play
- Fill every cell with yin (dark) or yang (light).
- Each row and column has the same number of each.
- No three in a row of the same symbol, across or down.
- Cells joined by = match. Cells joined by × are opposites.
Tap once for yang, twice for yin, again to clear. Shaded cells are fixed. Every board has one solution.
How to play Binairo, the binary puzzle
Binairo is a classic grid logic puzzle, also known as Takuzu or simply the binary puzzle. Printed versions fill the grid with 0s and 1s; ours uses light and dark stones. Fill every cell so that each row and each column holds the same number of light and dark stones, and never let three of the same colour line up, across or down.
Our boards add one extra kind of clue. Two cells joined by = hold the same colour, and two cells joined by × hold opposite colours. The daily board is 6×6 from Monday to Saturday and 8×8 on Sunday, with difficulty rising through the week.
Strategy tips
- Close off pairs. Two matching stones side by side mean the cells at both ends of the pair must be the other colour.
- Fill the gaps. When two matching stones have one empty cell between them, that cell must be the opposite colour.
- Count each line. Once a row or column has half its cells in one colour, every remaining cell in it is the other colour.
- Follow the links. A × beside a known stone settles its neighbour at once, and a chain of = links lets one stone decide several cells.
- Read nearly full lines. On harder boards, list the few ways a row could still be finished. Any cell they all agree on is safe to fill.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Binairo the same as Takuzu?
- Yes. Binairo, Takuzu and the binary puzzle are names for the same family of puzzles. Some printed versions also forbid two identical rows; ours does not need that rule.
- Wasn't this game called Yin Yang?
- It was, until October 2026. Yin-Yang is also the name of a different puzzle, so we now use the name this puzzle is best known by. Your streak and progress carried over.
- Does every board have one solution?
- Yes. Every board has exactly one solution and can be solved by logic alone, with no guessing.
- Can I play more than one a day?
- Endless mode has unlimited binary puzzles from Easy to Expert, and the archive keeps every past daily board. It is all free, with no account.
